Yes, Sears has been closing stores, getting rid of real estate, and selling off prized brands including Craftsman so they can raise cash. However, Sears continues to sell Craftsman tools. They sold Craftsman to Stanley Black and Decker which now sells the brands to other retailers such as Lowes.
About Craftsman Tools
Craftsman is a line of tools, lawn and garden equipment, and work wear. Originally Sears
Craftsman firs sold tool in 1927. However, they were not manufactured by Sears.
In March 2017, Stanley Black & Decker bought the Craftsman brand from Sears Holdings. However, Sears holds the right to manufacture and sell their classic tools using their existing supply under the Craftsman name for the following 15 years after the deal is closed. As of April 2018, Lowes began selling Craftsman tools.
Is Craftsman lifetime warranty still good?
After the purchase of Craftsman Stanley Black & Decker spokesman Tim Perra answered yes, however with some qualifiers.
“Today, Craftsman’s warranties vary by business and product lines, and in some cases are very similar to Stanley Black & Decker’s existing lifetime guarantee policies on certain product lines. It is too early to speculate on the specifics, but we would expect that to continue and we are always committed to doing the right thing to support the brand and our end-users.”
